Catfish angling in the Crappie Capital of the WorldThe Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest (BCQ) participants will be plying their trade on Weiss Lake in Alabama on July 11. The lake carries the moniker of “Crappie Capital of the World,” but the crappie will be taking a back seat as catfish anglers will be fishing

for a a guaranteed payout of $10,500.00 in cash and prizes.

Dubbed the Weiss Lake Alabama First Annual Catfish Classic the event format includes 7 hourly paybacks, each hour of the day, beginning with the 7 to 8 am hour with the scales closing at 2:00. The hourly paybacks are $400 to first place, $300 to second, $200 to third and $100 to fourth.

The hourly format gives plenty of chances for participating anglers to win some money as well as some great prizes In addition to the four hourly cash prizes winners are named in the Top Female, Top Senior (55 and older), Top Young Angler (13 to 17) and Top Youth (12 and under).

Add in the overall prizes and 30 or more catfish anglers could go home with some booty. Overall prizes are $2,500 in cash ($1,000) and prizes for first place; $1,250 in cash ($750) and prizes for second place; $650 in cash ($500) and prizes for third place; $400 in cash ($250) and prizes for fourth place; and $300 in cash ($200) and prizes for fifth place.
